GENERAL RESOURCES

Smart Nursing - SmartNursing.Com has been designed to fulfill the unique educational needs of the current or aspiring transport nurse, emergency nurse, and/or critical care nurse. There are many websites providing continuing education for nurses.

New Jersey State Nurses Association  - This site lists information of interest to New Jersey nurses.

NursingCenter.com - Some of the features of this relaunched site include full-text articles from nursing journals, peer consultation forums, databases of nursing organizations, and continuing education requirements of state boards of nursing.

Nursing Sites on the World Wide Web - This site, developed by librarians at the health Sciences Library at the State University of New York at Buffalo, hosts a large directory of nursing information resources on the web.

Resources for Nurses and Families - This site is hosted by the University of Central Florida School of Nursing. The page includes resources for nursing, health, children and families.

Sites of Interest by Nursing Role – This page was developed by Whitney R. Bischoff, DrPH, RN, Assistant Professor of Nursing & Health Science at Texas A&M. A menu driven system guides users to various nursing links pertaining to specific roles.

Sites of Interest by Nursing Specialty - Also developed by Whitney R. Bischoff. this site also guides users to various nursing links according to nursing specialty.

SpringNet - This site has information for nurses, nurse managers, nurse practitioners and nursing students. A well rounded site with a wide variety of information.

Worldwide Nurse - This is a page of international nursing resources.  The resources are arranged in broad hierarchical categories such as Associations, Communication, Employment, Humor, Specialties, and many more.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Free Continuing Education Classes Online - courses listed on this site are offered by many different online providers. These are very nice, and the free CEs count for nurse.

Training and Continuing Education OnLine - Free CEs offered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), hosted by the Public Health Training Network (PHTN).

Wild Iris Medical Education - Wild Iris Medical Education is owned by Ann Johnson, RN and Lauren Robertson, MPT. The company was started on June 1998, and provides high quality continuing education courses to nurses and other healthcare professionals via the Internet.

Free Contact Hours  - ArcMesa Educators provides free continuing education for  nursing professionals through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. 

HealthStream Nursing  This system allows busy professionals to begin and complete courses in one or many sittings by bookmarking content. Exams at the end of each course automatically qualify you for credit and record that for you for later review.

Medscape Nurses CE Center - This site offers free continously updated continuing education activites for registered nurses and other health professionals. All activites marked "CE" have been planned and implemented in accordance with the requirements of the ANCC's Commission on Accreditation.

My Free CE: The CE Club - One year membership for a low fee. You'll get unlimited CE hours with no per course charges.  This site has online courses, tests, and certificates that you can access anytime, anywhere.

NETCE for Nurses -a  nationally accredited provider of continuing education. CME Resource provides NetCE as a resource to Nurses. Review the featured course material and questions on-line or print them and study them off-line. On-line testing scores your test immediately.

Power-Pak C.E.  Online continuing education lessons are available free for pharmacists, technicians, nurses and physicians. Please select your healthcare profession to access the lessons.

ONLINE JOURNALS

Nursing Standard Online – The online version of Nursing Standard gives nurses a selection of articles and abstracts from the printed journal. This is a weekly journal.

Online Journal of Issues in Nursing (OJIN) - OJIN is a peer-reviewed publication that provides a forum for a discussion of various points of view on nursing issues. The journal is owned by Kent State University School of Nursing and is published in partnership with the ANA and Nursing-World.

National Institute of Nursing Research - The NINR site provides clinical and basic research information aimed at establishing a scientific basis for patient care.

NCLEX-RN Prep – This site helps nurses prepare for the NCLEX and for a nursing career. Online examinations are available along with sample questions.

NIH Searchable Guide for Grants and Contracts - This site will allow you to search the NIH Guide for various health care related grants and contracts.

Nursing Conferences & Meetings - This site is a section of the Doctor's Guide to Conferences & Meetings.  On the page you can find a comprehensive list of nursing conferences. 

Nursing Theory Page – The page provides information on many of the important nursing theories and models.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Gopher – The foundation provides grants for research in healthcare related fields.

State of New Jersey Grant Information - New Jersey state departments and agencies provide financial assistance for a variety of programs through grants. The state provides citizens and organizations funds through grants for everything from educational projects to public health initiatives. Information available on the Web about state government grants can be accessed from this page.
